Never say Never

I mentioned on Monday in tiny text that Brennan woke up on Monday night, had fitful sleep on and off until 1am when I finally put 2 & 2 together got that she had gas. Not one of my stellar mommy moments. Due to my exhaustion at 1am having not slept at all I let my lovie sack out in my bed and I laid next to here. I have been known to say in the past that my kids will never sleep in my bed.
So last night, I'm sitting on the floor in the front room with all the stuff I need to inventory and tag for the consignment sale on Saturday and I'm listening/peeking at LOST in the other room when I hear crying. Ufta!! really. So, thinking I'm smart I head her off at the pass and give her Mylicon drops after she lets out a big burp when I pick her up. Take her to my room; rock, rock, rock, pat, pat, pat. She is konked out, back in her bed she stand up and starts screaming. Maybe it's her teeth. Orajel applied. Eyes closed. Snoring. I do the limp arm test, anyone else do that? Back to her bed and repeat. Frustrated with the fact that she is waking up and I have a pile of stuff to tend to I leave her to slam stuff around downstairs clean-up. Jon says he will take over and that I should take a minute. I do. He gets her, puts her in bed, she falls asleep again. Rinse and repeat you get the idea. Three more times, we are being played. She will only sleep in our bed. Then it happened... We made the decision to let her cry it out. I have said over and over again that I would never ever EVAH do it. I thought I was going to melt into a giagantic puddle. I was a mess and envisioned that she was too with snot and possibly puke because she was crying so hard. After 5 minutes it was over there was silence (until 7am no less) and we all survived to see today. As I am wrapping this up she is crying again, but seems to be soothing herself. Am I the only with babies who can't seem to figure out that sleep is OH SO VERY GOOD???

We ahd to go through bouts of crying it out with ours. A little won't hurt 'em. I mean please, I want to cry it out myself most nights ;)

I have had to do that with mine too and it kills me. Sometimes when Kobe wakes up in the middle of the night I will wait a minute or two before going in there and he will stop on his own. I try not to rush in his room. I hope tonight goes better :o)

My 21 month old lives in my bed, it is crazy but I guess she will eventually want to sleep on her own. I think it might be time to upgrade to king size though, lol. I hope she continues to sleep for you though!
